Snoop Dogg and HBO have officially confirmed a drama series that Snoop will executively produce. The drama scene will be set in early 1980’s Los Angeles and depict a family struggling through the era of Reaganomics and the crack epidemic, HBO said.
Snoop Dogg grew up during this time in Long Beach, Calif. The series will be directed by Allen Hughes (Broken City) and written by Rodney Barnes (The Boondocks). This will be one of many projects up coming for the writer and executive producer of The Boondocks. However, it is going to be the first collaboration with director Allen Hughes, as he and Snoop Dogg have collaborated many times on The Boondocks over the years.
After the initial announcement by Snoop at SXSW, we didn’t hear anything concrete about the production until now. So be on the look out for this new show coming to HBO which is sure to become a conversation starter and give shows like Power and Empire a run for their money.
