After voicing over Marvel’s previous animated series Ultimate Spider-Man: Web-Warriors, Donald Glover is set to star in the forthcoming film Spider-man: Homecoming.
Fans were initially pushing for Glover to be cast as Miles Morales in this reboot, and even got the hashtag #Donald4SpiderMan to trend for a good while before Tom Holland was deemed the new Spidey for the flick last summer. So the question that will most likely bug fans is what role will Donald play?
The actor, writer, comedian and musician told USA Today that he’s probably too old to play the part, “If I was playing a high- schooler, a lot of things would’ve been wrong.” However, he’s still excited to be starring in the movie. The former Community TV star is not new to being on the big screen either, Glover also starred in The Muppets, The lazarus Effect, Magic Mike XXL, and even 2015’s Golden Globe winning The Martian.
Spider-man: Homecoming is already stacked with well-known celebrities, such as Robert Downey Jr., Marisa Tomei, Zendaya and rumored Micheal Keaton. The action-packed film swings into theaters July 7, 2017. Until then, maybe we’ll get some new Gambino on the movie’s soundtrack?
