A$AP Rocky, Nas and Jennifer Hudson are set to star in the upcoming indie film Monster, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The film is based off the 1999 novel by Walter Dean Myers.
Monster centers on a young student named Steve Harmon (Harrison), who gets pinned with a felony murder charge despite being innocent. The cast also includes Jeffrey Wright, Jennifer Ehle, Tim Blake Nelson, and Denzel’s Washington’s son, John David Washington.
The forthcoming indie production is a collaborative effort between John Legend’s Get Lifted Productions, Bron Studios, and Tonika Productions. Nas and Legend will co-executive produce Monster, which marks music video director Anthony Mandler’s cinematic debut. He’s worked with the likes of Jay Z, Rihanna, Muse, Taylor Swift, Lana Del Rey, Snoop Dogg, and many others in the past.
