Comic Book Shows to Binge Watch on Netflix

With the holiday’s right around the corner, some of our favorite shows will be taking a holiday hiatus and won’t return until after the New Year. It may be a little disappointing to think about not being able to watch new episodes of your favorite shows for weeks.  Luckily for us, streaming services like Netflix, Hulu and Amazon Prime make it easier than ever to find new favorites, and catch up on old ones.

There are tons of shows to stream, especially on Netflix, so it’s not difficult to find a good show to get hooked on. Whether we’re watching a series for the first time or revisiting old episodes, we always tend to watch in bulk. When viewers find a show they like, they ‘binge watch’ until they run out of episodes, leaving them to search for their next TV fix.

Marvel and DC Comics characters like Batman, Ironman, Thor and Superman have become household names thanks to a blitz of record-breaking movies and inescapable merchandise. But the action doesn’t stop there!

Here are the top four comic book-based TV series that may have flown under your radar

(all shows available to stream)

1. Arrow

The show follows reformed billionaire playboy Oliver Queen played by Stephen Amell. After being presumed dead and spending years stranded on an island away from his loved ones, he returns home. While he may seem like the same person on the outside, he has fundamentally changed  on the inside,  and is now compelled to save his city from evil. Though he starts off a lone hero, many unlikely allies join the battle as the show progresses.

Arrow is currently on its fourth season on the CW Network and airs Wednesdays at 8/7c.

2. The Flash

The Flash is centered around Barry Allen (effectively portrayed by Grant Gustin) who after being struck by lightning, discovers that he has developed superhuman speed and is now the fastest man alive.

As you might expect, the show becomes an action-packed thrill ride as Flash begins to use his powers to take on some incredibly tough super villains.

The Flash airs Tuesday nights at 8/7c on the CW.

3. Gotham

Gotham is essentially a crime series, taking place in the time period before Batman emerges. The show follows detective James “Jim” Gordon, a young Bruce Wayne and the Gotham City Police Department taking on new villains in a corrupt city they call home. The Season Two Fall Finale airs Monday Nov. 30 at 8/7c on FOX.

Marvel Comics

4. Daredevil

After an accident leaves young Matthew Murdock blind, he learns how to turn his handicap into an asset. With the loss of one sense, the remaining four (touch, taste, hearing and smell) improve exponentially, making him capable of superhuman feats. Now all grown up, Murdock is working as an attorney by day and as a masked vigilante by night, fighting organized crime to save the Hell’s Kitchen neighborhood in New york. All of season one is ready to watch now, with a second season due for release in 2016.

Marvel Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D and the newly released series Jessica Jones are also available for streaming.
