Facebook has been quite busy these past few months, updating its app with a load of new features. The social media powerhouse has been brainstorming different ways that they can improve its Messenger app, looking to expand on its possible opportunities — particularly, for business users.
After its recent update, all Messenger accounts will now have new username features: codes, usernames and links. You’ll now have a unique vanity URL that’s a reflection of your username, unless you’ve already registered a customized one for your Facebook profile.
This is really convenient, as it functions just like a regular URL, which allows you to share it anywhere online for your friends to find and strike up a conversation with you. Business owners should have particular interest in this update since brands are trying to capitalize on any opportunity to engage with consumers as possible.
Messenger is slowly shifting from a place where you chat with your friends, and will soon be a place where you can chat with companies and customer service representatives.
The most interesting part of this upcoming update is by far the new QR code-style scanner that Facebook is starting to roll out, which will make it even faster to connect. Snapchat users will already be familiar with this feature, since it’s already incredibly popular with its community.
One last note: Facebook also announced that it now has 900 million monthly active users on Messenger.
