Frank Ocean fans have been anxiously awaiting a new album for years now, and have grown impatient. Just when we all thought he would never make music again , Ocean announced on Monday a title and release date for his new upcoming album, Boy’s Don’t Cry for July 2015.
His last album Channel Orange (2012) , was instant success, receiving numerous outstanding reviews. Channel Orange won Ocean his first Grammy for Best Urban Contemporary Album, and was listed #4 on The New York Times top 10 albums of 2012. His debut mix tape, Nostaliga Ultra (2011), has also been highly reviewed.
Ocean has always been an artist that stays very under the radar and reclusive. However it appears he is ready to accept the spotlight of the new upcoming album. Along with publicly announcing the release date, Ocean also gave a few details about the album letting the world know it will be a two in one, including two different covers and two different versions. There are talks of a tour possibly happening as well, which would be a first for Ocean.
Frank Ocean fans (including myself) are extremely excited to see what his new album brings. Could it change the R&B game again? Will is break records, and win awards? Could it be equally as amazing, if not more amazing, then Channel Orange!? We will all have to wait and see.
