Vic Mensa & Skrillex Have “No Chill” On New Collab

No stranger to hip-hop/electro collaborations, Skrillex joins Roc Nation rapper Vic Mensa on the studio version of “No Chill.” Having performed the song during a Los Angeles concert last month, Mensa debuted the song on Zane Lowe’s Beats 1 radio show.

Comprised of thundering production from Skrillex and Jahlil Beats, Mensa follows the trend set by his lead single “U Mad” (featuring Kanye West), by stunting on the raucous, aggressive beat.

“With a halo on my deal, I signed to Hov, I’m light-skinned Jesus.”

The anthemic track weaves together creative lyricism and an immense trap beat, highlighting Skrillex talented production as well as Vic Mensa’s innovative wordplay.

“….but we still ain’t got no chill!!!”

Notably, when Mensa raps “Pratice? What the f*ck is practice?” on the hook, he is referencing that (in) famous Allen Iverson rant at a 76ers post-game press conference.

Mensa’s mentorship from Yeezus is apparent on the track (“On the phone with Ye, he on the plane, he say wassup”), as there are glimpses of Kanye-ish moments throughout the nearly four minute track. The song really has “no chill” as Mensa humble-brags all over the verses. Very Yeezus. Hallelujah. Hallelujah.

Vic Mensa’s official debut album Traffic is due to release later this year on Roc Nation. Check out the hot track below.
