With little effort, Future makes history this week after landing two consecutive chart-topping albums on the Billboard 200 in a row. Just last week, his self-titled album FUTURE scored the number one. Now, HNDRXX has knocked FUTURE off the top spot into second place.
According to Nielsen SoundScan, HNDRXX sold approximately 121,000 equivalent units total, with 48,000 of those in traditional sales and 63,000 in streaming equivalents. This comes days after FUTURE moved a total of 140,000 equivalent album units.
The last artist to have the No. 1 and No. 2 albums simultaneously was Prince. Shortly after his death last year, he topped the chart with The Very Best of Prince and Purple Rain, which arrived at No. 2. With his latest accomplishment, he joins the likes of The Beatles, Nelly, and Gun N’ Roses as one of the few artists to place back to back No. 1s.
HNDRXX marks Future’s fifth No. 1 overall and second this year.
