Earl Sweatshirt has announced that he’s releasing a new album this year. Some Rap Songs arrives Nov. 30 via his label Tan Cressida, an imprint of Colombia Records. According to a press release, the rapper addresses the death of his father, South African poet Keorapetse Kgositsile.
“Me and my dad had a relationship that’s not uncommon for people to have with their fathers, which is a non-perfect one,” Earl wrote. “Talking to him is symbolic and non-symbolic, but it’s literally closure for my childhood. Not getting to have that moment left me to figure out a lot with my damn self.”
It’s been three years since Earl shared I Don’t Like Shit, I Don’t Go Outside. In the meantime, he’s released one-off tracks like “Solace,” “Wind in My Sails,” and “Balance.” Earl also recently dropped the second single from the project, “The Mint,” featuring Navy Blue and produced by Black Noi$e.
